As an avid social media user, I have come to see the value of using social media as a way to advertise my business. It may not be traditional, but it is much more effective and brings wider results. There are so many social media websites that one can utilize to advertise a business’ products and services. In a matter of minutes, thousands of views, shares, comments and likes are generated, making your business known to your target audience. People have come to be dependent on their gadgets and because of that, they are always on their Facebook feeds, scrolling down to see all the posts shared by their friends.

Another social media application that proves to be an effective site to advertise one’s business is Instagram. Millions of users go on Instagram on a daily basis for the purpose of liking posts from the people they follow. By sponsoring the app, one can easily get their Instagram posts on people’s feeds.

I have come to realize that these social media apps are a necessity nowadays to both big and small businesses because everyone is on social media 24/7. If a post manages to pique people’s interest, it will be an instant or viral hit, exposing your products and services not just locally but internationally as well.

However, because social media has become a big part of the marketing industry, more and more companies use it for advertising purposes. As it becomes more popular, more businesses will utilize social media and will devise the best strategies to make the most out of what social media can offer. For example, if I were to sell beauty products, I should have a goal that I need to reach so that I would know the direction of where my business will go. If I didn’t have an objective of let’s say, being able to sell X amount by the end of the month, it would be difficult to determine how to improve.
Objectives are there for business owners to achieve and uphold and without that, the product or service being offered in the market won’t last long in this cutthroat consumer industry. By planning the objectives before the actual start of the social media plan, there would be no foundation to stand on. Planning objectives will help one out when they have somewhat lost their way in the middle.

If you have no subscribers on your YouTube page or followers on your Twitter account, your products and services won’t be shared and seen by your target audience. In order for my business to become a success, the products that I sell should be sold so that I would earn revenue. Since my business is focused more on products rather than services, pictures and witty descriptions would be the perfect social media marketing strategy to use. Because Instagram is the most popular picture sharing site, I needed to be active, constantly posting interesting material for other people to follow my account. The more followers I have, the more people see the products that I post. It is also a good way to improve the products that I put out. The comments section may be a bit harsh sometimes, but most of the comments actually contain sincere reviews of the products. That way, I will be able to tell if the products need improvement or not.

As a business owner, I need to be on top of things, especially the posts that I would be putting up on my social media accounts regarding my business. It is a tedious and very meticulous task. After using social media as a platform to advertise my products, I realized that there is a pattern of which I can utilize to get the best results. Once I set a target audience, I noticed that social media traffic depended on which are trending at certain times of the day. Because of that observation, I was able to make a schedule on when to post what which ended up increasing the views and likes of whatever post I would put up. That is the beauty of social media. The endless possibilities of marketing products are perfect for a global audience.

 

 

After taking everything into consideration, planning a social media marketing plan is not as easy as it seems. It requires careful attention to detail and quick responses to whatever is trending in order to keep up with the ever-changing world of social media. It may be a complicated way to market a business, but it is the most rewarding due to the worldwide audience that each social media site connects with.
